Here are some ‘new storytellers’ in Covid times I have noticed today:
The emergence of humour in fashion – silly clothes in strange times.
“The humour embodied in Doublet is not just making something funny, It’s about providing a different perspective on daily life” “I want customers to smile and make conversation and my upbeat take o nthe banal and everyday is inspired by artists including surrealists Salvador Dali, Marcel Duchamp, Andy Warhol – and my favorite Japanese comedian Hitoshi Matsumoto” Masayuki Ino, designer behind unisex streetwear brand Doublet.

Out of this comic cocktail emerges a brand that is one of the most exciting up-and-coming players in the fashion industry – and almost certainly the funniest. Doublet embodies the archetypal story of the “Jester” (core desire is to live in the moment with full enjoyment and goal is to have a great time and lighten up the world, fear is boredom or being boring, strategy is play, make jokes, be funny).
