What is the best thing that I love about my work? Leaving and losing my identity.
What is my idea of perfect happiness? Happiness for everyone, at least equality.
What is my greatest fear? Finding myself in the middle of the space, don’t know why.
What is the trait that I most deplore in myself? My critical side.
Which living persons in my profession do I most admire? Ben van Berkel, Rem Koolhaas, Jan Fabre, Marlene Dumas, … but I always learn from everyone, from the right distance.
What is my greatest extravagance? Maybe my destabilizing attitude towards coprolalia.
On what occasion would I lie? I luckly don’t need to lie: overlooking useless things is generally enough for me.
What is the thing that I dislike the most in my work? The influence of power and money.
When and where was I the happiest, in my work? Late at night in my studio and every time and everywhere I can create and re-create my job as an architect or as an artist, also included at the expositions, when I can see my work through other eyes.
If I could, what would I change about myself? My sense of time.
What is my greatest achievement in work? Opening myself.
What do the words ‘The Financial Freedom to Create’ mean to me? It sounds like “I have a dream”!
Where would I most like to live? Around the world.
What is my most treasured possession? Benedetta, my partner.
What is my most marked characteristic? Maybe we’d ask it the others, but it’s the authenticity, I suppose.
What is my most inspirational location, in my city? The Naples seafront, obviously.
What is my favourite place to eat and drink, in my city? I’m from Naples: I couldn’t have just one favourite place. Visit Naples and I’ll show you the best places to eat and drink!
What books influenced my life and how? Oh my God, there are too many books in my heart: “Ossi di seppia” by Montale, some writing by Gandhi, “Why war” by Freud-Einstein, “De Rerum Natura” by Lucrezio, “Beyond Good and Evil” by Nietzsche, “Eichmann in Jerusalem” by Hannah Arendt, but I’ll never forget Marx, Freud, Foucault and many others too. Every one of them made me feel not alone, they’ve learnt me a human perspective.
Who are my favourite writers? I rarely read storytelling books, I usually prefer essays about art and philosophy, I especially like contemporary french philosophy.
You Only Die Once. What music would I listen on my last day? A funny painkiller music.
Who is my hero or heroine in fiction? I like Olivia on “Law and Order”.
Who are my heroes and heroines in real life? The last people, that people I usually paint.
Which movie would I recommend to see once in a lifetime? A movie that changes your life. “Dancer in the dark” by Lars von Trier is one of them for me, but there are so many others.
What role plays art in my life and work? Midfielder, defender, winger, …
Who is my greatest fan, sponsor, partner in crime? I’ve got a lot of fans, but I think the best sponsor it’s me.
Whom would I like to work with in 2017? With real people.
Which people in my profession would I love to meet in 2017? Dreamers.
What project, in 2017, am I looking forward to work on? An interesting restyling of a little residential building and some interior as an architect. A new solo show about “liquid modernity”, publications and much more as an artist.
