Membership FAQs
About Membership
What is The Hero’s Journey Membership?
The Hero’s Journey Membership is a world of reflection, story, and connection — designed to help you understand your own journey and feel more connected to others walking theirs.
You can choose between two ways to join:
- Content Membership gives you full access to our digital library — masterclasses, stories, articles, and recordings — so you can learn and reflect at your own pace.
- Community Membership includes everything in Content, and adds access to our community programme: meet other members online and in person through discussions, free live online events, and ticketed in-person gatherings — for those who feel that a story is enriched by sharing it.
What is the difference between Content and Community Membership?
Content Membership gives you unlimited access to:
- All 12 Archetype Masterclasses (worth €2.750)
- The full Hero’s Journey & Heroine’s Journey story library
- Weekly new content
- Digital Conversation Cards (worth €25)
- Emotional Intelligence self-assessment
- Personalised recommendations
- Exclusive recordings with Peter de Kuster
- Progress tracking through the 12 archetypes
- 10% discount on all orders from the Hero’s Journey shop
This tier best suits people who want to explore their story at their own pace.
Community Membership provides everything in Content Membership, plus:
- Connect with other members online and in person
- Free and exclusive access to meet other members at Live Online Events
- Free and exclusive access to meet Peter de Kuster at 4 Live Online Events per year
- Exclusive access to ticketed in-person City Chapter events
- Exclusive access to the annual Festival of Stories
This tier suits people who believe a story is enriched by connection.
All Members must be aged 18+.
Is Membership only for people in Amsterdam or the Netherlands?
Not at all. Membership is global and open to everyone. We currently take payments in EUR, GBP, and USD. While many of our ticketed in-person events are hosted in Amsterdam, we are expanding to other City Chapters — Paris, Venice, London, and Rome — with more to follow. In the meantime, all live online events are included in Community Membership, wherever you are.
Can Membership be offered to organizations?
Yes — if you’re a workspace, hotel, or organization interested in offering Hero’s Journey Membership to your team or community as part of an employee perks or wellbeing package, please get in touch.
Is Community Membership right for me if I’m introverted or new to groups?
Absolutely. Our spaces are designed to feel welcoming and unpressured. You don’t need to be outgoing or “perform.” Whether you prefer listening, small group conversations, or quieter one-to-one connections, you’ll find ways to participate that feel comfortable for you.
Are all events only for Community Members?
The majority of our events are for Community Members only. We occasionally run taster events or public events open to non-members — sign up to our newsletter to be the first to hear about these.
How do I claim my discount in the Hero’s Journey shop?
All members receive a 10% discount, automatically applied at checkout and linked to the email address you use to log in to your Membership account. If you use a different email address in the shop, your discount won’t apply.
Access Your Community Space
How do I access my Membership benefits?
You can access all your Membership benefits, content, and features through the member area on this website. Some content is also available via email — including your weekly archetype reflection.
Is the Community Space moderated?
Yes. We use our best efforts to keep the space respectful, legal, and emotionally safe. Posts that breach our Community Guidelines may be removed by moderators. Please note that direct messages between members are not moderated by our team.
About Member Events
How do I book a Member ticket for events?
Find all upcoming events via the Events page on this site. For live online events, please RSVP so we know how many people are attending. For in-person events, you’ll need to book a ticket through the events page — you’ll receive a confirmation by email.
Is there an age limit?
Yes, all events are 18+.
How much do events cost?
Most online events are included in Community Membership. Some in-person events (City Chapters, the Festival of Stories) carry an additional cost depending on format and location — prices are always listed clearly on the booking page.
Where are events held?
Events take place worldwide, both online and in person. Live online events are scheduled across a range of time zones; in-person events are currently held in Amsterdam, Paris, Venice, London, and Rome, with plans to expand to more City Chapters over time.
How long are the events?
Event length varies — some are short and focused (around 90 minutes), others allow for deeper exploration (2 hours), and the Festival of Stories runs as a full-day event. Each event page lists its exact duration.
Will the events be recorded?
We do not allow filming of live online events by attendees, as these are a safe space for open conversation. We may occasionally film for promotional purposes, always thoughtfully and with consent.
How many participants attend the events?
Group sizes vary by format. In-person City Chapter events typically range from 15 to 30 participants. Live online events vary too — some are capped at 30-40 for a more interactive experience, while larger sessions (such as Live Online with Peter de Kuster) can host up to 150 attendees.
Can I book a class for a friend?
Most events are for Community Members only. We occasionally host “Bring a Friend” or public taster events — these are clearly labelled in the events calendar.
How Long Does Membership Last?
Membership lasts for one year and renews automatically unless cancelled. We’ll email you at least seven days before renewal, reminding you of the cost and your benefits. If you’d prefer not to renew, simply turn off auto-renewal in your account settings at least 24 hours before your renewal date.
Can I cancel my Membership?
Yes, at any time. You may continue to enjoy your benefits until the end of your annual term. We do not offer refunds for unused months.
Can I share my Membership with someone else?
Memberships are for individual use only.
