What is the best thing that I love about my work?

Books and stories make me feel good. I love writing, reading, publishing stories of other authors with my publishing house and teaching creative writing.

What is my idea of perfect happiness?

Me, my wife and my daughter at the seaside in summer.

What is my greatest fear?

I don’t want to die leaving nothing behind.

What is the trait that I most deplore in myself?

My poor English.

David Nicholls, Bret Easton Ellis, Jay McInerney, Michel Houellebecq, Stephen King.

What is my greatest extravagance?

I collect everything.

On what occasion would I lie?

I lie only when I write.

What is the thing that I dislike the most in my work?

I don’t like slovenliness, inaccuracy, superficiality.

When and where was I the happiest, in my work?

When I signed the contract for a novel with Marsilio, at the age of twenty-four. I was in Turin.

If I could, what would I change about myself?

I would like to be more adaptable when there are contingencies. And five centimeters taller.

What is my greatest achievement in work?

Ask me that when I will stop writing.

What do the words ‘The Financial Freedom to Create’ mean to me?

It’s one of my biggest dreams.

Where would I most like to live?

Near the sea. Probably in Finale Ligure.

What is my most treasured possession?

My family. Not so original, I know.

What is my most marked characteristic?

Constancy and perseverance.

What is my most inspirational location, in my city?

Parco del Valentino, the most beautiful park in Turin.

What is my favourite place to eat and drink, in my city?

I like some pizzerias that make good pizza almost like Naples ones.

What books influenced my life and how?

There are so many books that have changed my life. “Tutti giù per terra” by Giuseppe Culicchia is the novel made me want to write.

Who are my favorite writers?

Marcel Proust, F. Scott Fitzgerald, J.D. Salinger.

The complete discography of The Beatles.

Who is my hero or heroine in fiction?

Dylan Dog.

Who are my heroes and heroines in real life?

Paul McCartney, Max Pezzali, Michel Platini, Alessandro Del Piero, and – again – my family.

Which movie would i recommend to see once in a lifetime?

“Back to the Future”. I would like a time machine like the DeLorean! And writing is a bit like being able to travel in time.

It gives me suggestions.

Who is my greatest fan, sponsor, partner in crime?

My wife and my parents.

Whom would I like to work with in 2019?

Like now, with those who believe in me and in my stories.

Which people in my profession would i love to meet in 2019?

A foreign publisher who wants to translate my books.

What project, in 2019, am I looking forward to work on?

I hope to publish the novel I am writing. Or at least I would like to sign a contract for this book with a great publishing house.

What do the words “Passion Never Retires” mean to me?

The motto of Turin, at the time of the Olympics, was “Passion lives here”. It means that maybe I was born in the right place.
