What Is my idea of happiness? My happiness is being able to live life free. Living fearless enjoying family, friends, and love ones and not being worried about time or finances. Truly being able to live and learn by making mistakes.
What is the best thing that I love about my work? Giving birth to an idea. To wake up one day, think of a story literally starting from one crazy scenario and watching it blossom into a full universe. Later finding yourself uniting with a team of creatives and making a thought become a reality. That to me is fucking awesome!
What is my greatest fear? To wake up and no longer have that childlike spirit. I think that is absolutely terrifying. I compare that to falling out of the airplane with no parachute.
What is the trait that I most deplore in myself? I hate the fact that I am a bit of a perfectionist. I’m always over analyzing, rather than trusting the process. I truly am my own worst critic.
Which living persons in my profession do I most admire? Stephen king is the man. I read his work and every time I’m left in awe. It’s dark, catchy, hip, and thrilling all in one. I swear his work is like gumbo, a superb dish with all types of ingredients.
What is my greatest extravagance? I am a sucker for comics! I can literally see myself spending and exuberant amount of money on them. Honestly, I can spend my Friday nights, sipping on bourbon and opening up a fresh comic.
On what occasion would I lie? I’d only lie to someone outside of my circle, with cruel intentions.
What is the thing that I dislike the most in my work? Holding back…Writing should be freeing, but society can sometimes be sensitive on topics that make them do which should be normal. Face reality…
When and where was I the happiest, in my work? Right now! I’m happiest with every project I do. Every journey gives me a different perspective and appreciation for the art of screenwriting and production. At this moment, I have a greater “WHY” behind my passion. I’ll be a father in less than two months. So, every day that I wake up, and I put the pen to the paper; I count my blessings. Because I continue to create for the world, only now it’s a different motivation.
What is my greatest achievement in my work? I haven’t found my Greatest achievement yet. That’s something I’m still searching for.
If I could, what would I change about myself? That’s a constant internal battle. Always being on the go can be a benefit. I can practice on enjoying the moment, taking a breathier to recharge.
Where would I most like to live? My Destination is Canada. It’s an artsy diverse land. I love the energy.
What is my most treasured possession? My prized possession would be my journal. It holds a side of me that I feel the world does not know. That is one place that I can travel to, of course figuratively and let loose. My journal is my non-judgment zone.
What is my most marked characteristic? Persistence, no matter how many times I try at something and fail, the dawg in me claws out. It drags me until I get the energy to run again. Over the years, I’ve met so many roadblocks that would drive the average man to quit, but I don’t. QUITTING is not an option. I’m inspired to share my stories to the world and that’s what I intend to do. I will keep failing forward until I have nothing left.
What is my most inspirational location, in my city? TBD
What is my favorite place to eat and drink, in my city? In Tampa, FL at the Gandy shore line. I love taking in the scenery as the sun sets.
What books influenced my life and how? The book that influenced me the most I have to say is the alchemist. The story about Santiago, chasing his personal legend. Which inspired me to pursue my own. To my recollection, I’ve read it at least five times and with each read I learned something new. It’s a timeless book one with a lesson for each stage on your journey.
What music would I listen to on my last day? I like to be completely silent. For once to have no noise no chaos just peace and silence. I feel that will be my moment to reflect and just be one with the universe.
Who is my hero or heroine in fiction? My hero in fiction is none other than the Cape Crusader Batman. Batman is a hero who push himself past all boundaries for the betterment of mankind. Batman is a hero who doesn’t make excuses for being inadequate. Yet he makes a way out of no way to solve the problem.
Who are my heroes and heroines in real life? It sounds a bit cliché, but I once heard Matthew McConaughey give a speech and he stated who was his hero. And his response was priceless. He said that it was himself in 10 years. That stuck with me… We as people always evolve, aspiring to become that person you will find yourself on a never-ending journey of self-growth. So, to answer the question, it would be me in 10 years.
Which movie would I recommend to see once in a lifetime? 42 is by far one of the most motivational films I’ve ever seen. Chadwick Boseman’s performance was marvelous! Acting as protagonist of a revolutionary civil rights and sports activist Jackie Robinson. Growing up reading about him in history books, doesn’t do anywhere close to the performance Boseman delivered. Every time I watched that film, I felt his pain struggling to battle the rage inside. He learned to understand that “when there is no enemy within, the enemy outside can do you no harm.” My favorite part of the movie is when Jackie, (Boseman) broke down in the alley, after being on the end of racist verbal assault. He did not respond with violence, but raced to the alley and smashing his bat into the wall repeatedly. He released a soul shivering yell, as he continued to beat the wall shattering his bat with each blow. Branch Rickey, played by actor (Harrison Ford) approached Jackie. He snapped a devilish stare at Rickey. “NO…no, the next white son a bitch that open their god damn mouth I’ll smash his god damn teeth in.” He warns Rickey, trying to compose himself. Taking deep breaths. “These men have to live with themselves.” Rickey responds. I can explain the entire scene, but that part hit me the most. We are all accountable for our actions, no one else’s. It’s not about the act that is done to us, but how we respond to the act. Truthfully, the response defines the moment.
What role plays art in my life and work? TBD…Definitely, something to think about…
What do the words ‘You are the storyteller of your own life’ to me? In actuality everyone is the storyteller of their own life. That’s the true beauty behind each life. You can choose to be the hero or the villain, the protagonist or the antagonist. It’s awesome to have the ability to make mistakes, and have a comeback story that can inspire the world. Life is to be lived like a book. Every day is a new page, every quarter a new section, a year a new chapter. In the end, I wonder what will my book be about?
Who is my greatest fan, sponsor, partner in crime? My inner child is my greatest fan. I constantly ask myself, “if I were kid Ryan, what would I do?” The inner child in me is always screaming, “I can do it!” He hasn’t let me down so far. Without him I think that I would’ve given up or loss hope. Young Ryan is one person that I can’t let down, because I know he’s always rooting for me.
