What is the best thing that I love about my work?
I love the fact that it doesn’t feel like work, because music is something I would do even if I wasn’t getting paid to do it.
What is my idea of happiness?
Knowing that I can provide all of my family’s need through the sheer creation of music, and that I am leaving a legacy behind which will still provide for them long after I’m gone.
What is my greatest fear?
The thought that something bad might happen to my daughters.
What is the trait that I most deplore in myself?
Sometimes I struggle prioritazing everyday tasks, as my mind tends to be completely absorbed in my music.
Which living persons in my profession do i most admire?
There are simply too many to mention, generally speaking I admire any artist with a strong personality and who’s not afraid to take risks in their art.
What is my greatest extravagance?
I have a compulsion for second-hand vintage clothing and used vinyl.

If it’s worth it, on many occasions.

The lack of it.

When my music was able to reach people’s hearts.

I would be a better musician.

Having music playing in more than 30 countries on 4 different continents.

In Rome, where I live.

Unpredictability.

Mostly in the multicultural neighborhoods, where I can feel the energy of life is really pulsing.

Trastevere and Testaccio.
What books influenced my life and how?
Any autobiography of artists, especially Jazz musicians, because I can relate to all the struggles and disappointments which creative people have to face everyday, in order to experience that brief and blissful moment when art finally comes to life, and touches people’s heart.

Any album by Count Basie during the Pablo Records period of the 1970s and 80s.

Homer’s Ulysses.

Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, Gato Barbieri, Ennio Morricone, David Bowie, Lucio Dalla, Renato Zero, Freddie Mercury, Al Pacino, Woody Allen….etc!

My philosophy of life, ever since I picked up a clarinet at age 13.

There are several, but the greatest of all is certainly my father.

I would love to write soundtracks for such directors as: Hany Abu Assad, Paolo Sorrentino, Terry Gilliam, Alejandro Gonzales Inarritu. I would love to work on a Netflix or Amazon series, either as the main composer or music licensor.
What project, in 2022, am I looking forward to work on?
A 40-minute music suite composed for a contemporary dance company performance, based on a theme I wrote 25 years ago called “How many heroes”.
