What is the best thing that I love about my work? 

I work as a narrative designer, and before that I worked as a game writer. What I like most about my job is coming up with cool stuff. Creativity is a big part of my job. It’s especially nice to know that people around the world can see them! It’s inspiring.

What is my idea of happiness? 

Work from home, absence of stress and hookah and anime in the evenings. And good family relationships, of course.

What is my greatest fear? 

Loneliness. And the needlessness. I don’t know what I’ll do if gamedev in my country dies.

What is the trait that I most deplore in myself? 

Procrastination and inability to go to bed on time.

Which living persons in my profession do i most admire? 

Chris Avellone. He had a hand in a lot of great games.

What is my greatest extravagance? 

I go to festivals in anime cosplay.

On what occasion would I lie? 

When an unpleasant person asks me for a favor for nothing.

What is the thing that I dislike the most in my work? 

Reread and edit. I know it should be done, and I do, but I don’t really like it.

When and where was I the happiest, in my work? 

When I started working on AAA games, as I always dreamed.

If I could, what would I change about myself? 

Would kick myself not to be a lazy ass and find a girlfriend.

What is my greatest achievement in work? 

3rd place and bronze medal at national championship “artmasters” as game writer.

Where would I most like to live? 

Where I live now, Saint-petersburg. But I wouldn’t mind living on the shore of a warm sea from time to time, no matter where.

What is my most treasured possession? 

My parents. I’m grateful to them for a lot of things.

What is my most marked characteristic? 

Creative. And a little strange, I think. Although being a little strange is a typical trait for creative people.

What is my most inspirational location, in my city? 

The historic center of the city. The imperial grandeur of the architecture inspires great things.

What is my favorite place to eat and drink, in my city? 

I usually order home delivery, so, oddly enough, home.

What books influenced my life and how? 

The Master and Margarita, The Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter and the Methods of Rational Thought, Russian Classics. And a lot of manga.

You Only Die Once. What music would I listen on my last day? 

The ones I listened to in my childhood and youth. Rammstein, for example. And anime openings.

Who is my hero or heroine in fiction? 

Obi-wan Kenobi. And Fred and George from Harry Potter.

Who are my heroes and heroines in real life? 

Tsar Nicholas II. He did a great deal for the country, gave parliament and accepted martyrdom with his family.

Which movie would i recommend to see once in a lifetime? 

Star Wars Episode III. A great epic movie.

What role play stories in my life and work? 

Well, I create stories. So, very big role.

What do the words ‘You are the storyteller of your own life’ to me? 

Just as the characters go through the hero’s journey in the movies, so we go through it in real life, even if we rarely notice it.

Who is my greatest fan, sponsor, partner in crime? 

My parents. They supported me when I decided to change careers from engineer to narrative designer and game writer.

Which people or companies would I like to work with?

I already work at a great saber interactive company and am not looking for alternatives now. But if I had to pick more companies, it would be: bioware, rockstar games, paradox interactive, DICE, creative assembly and Bandai Namco.

What project am I looking forward to work on? 

I want to finally start writing a book.

It’s only available in Russian so far, and I’m adding all the projects I’ve worked on so far to it.

What do the words “Passion Never Retires” mean to me? 

You shouldn’t run away from yourself, you should accept yourself as you are. And do what you like, no matter what people around you or your parents say. If you try to run away from your passions, you will lose yourself.
