The Hero’s Journey of Daniele Cascone

What is the best thing that I love about my work?

I love it when I definitely finish an artwork. Just for a few days. All the rest is a frustrating and obsessive need to satisfy myself.

What is my idea of happiness?

I think it is being able to live in harmony with yourself, whatever you do. Alternatively, money, travel, a lot of free time and friends could be an interesting alternative.

What is my greatest fear?

Death, disease, routine.

What is the trait that I most deplore in myself?

Pessimism, defeatism and nervousness. In no specific order.

What is my greatest extravagance?

I don’t have any tattoos. In 2020.

On what occasion would I lie?

I think I should lie more often in interviews. But I don’t like lying.

What is the thing that I dislike the most in my work?

Conceive new ideas and implement them. I often have to think about it for a long time, without being able to find an immediate solution.

When and where was I the happiest, in my work?

I don’t remember exactly. Sometimes even small things have satisfied me more than big events. There is no specific rule for happiness.

If I could, what would I change about myself?

Some aspects of my character. I would like to have more calm and lightheartedness. Some time ago I had succeeded. However then I went back to my original character.

What is my greatest achievement in work?

I don’t know yet.

Where would I most like to live?

Where I live it’s ok. Maybe I would try to live in Venice or Naples for some time. Or maybe in some mountain village. Paris, why not? But I don’t think they would become my permanent locations.

What is my most marked characteristic?

This should be asked of those who know me. From the inside, I can’t notice certain things.

What is my most inspirational location, in my city?

I like some old quarters of my city, but also some naturalistic places in the surroundings.

What is my favorite place to eat and drink, in my city?

Any pizzeria, of course.
What books influenced my life and how?
Every book, even bad, affects your life. There are many books that I love, but it is the whole of what you read that makes you grow. Identifying a change of life only thanks to a book is too reductive.
You Only Die Once. What music would I listen on my last day?

I’m not fond of classical music, but I think Mozart’s requiem could be fine.

Who is my hero or heroine in fiction?

Sorry, I don’t have a hero.

Who are my heroes and heroines in real life?

Whoever made the world a better place, without distinction.

Which movie would i recommend to see once in a lifetime?

8½ by Fellini or one of Tarkovsky’s movies.

What role plays art in my life and work?

Art is an escape route, an alternative to my routine. A way to not go completely crazy.

What do the words ‘You are the storyteller of your own life’ to me?

Nice words, I’ve always tried to put them into practice.

Who is my greatest fan, sponsor, partner in crime?

My turtle.

What project, in 2020, am I looking forward to work on?

New images and new clothes (I have consumed them all).

Where can you see me or my work in 2020?

Now you can see my work on my website ( Then, I hope you can see it soon, in a new exhibition.

How can you contact me?
