What is my greatest fear?
My greatest fear is related to the deterioration of the environment which takes various and threatening forms: global warming and collapse of biodiversity of course, but also standardization of places of life, clothing customs and lifestyles in general. Beauty, originality and harmony are more and more threatened.

The trait of my character that I deplore the most is the lack of resistance to anxiety-provoking stimuli.

When I was a young teenager (17 years old), I had a small moped. One day, wanting to leave, to discover new horizons and fill my eyes with new colors, I got on my moped and headed straight south. It was just after the death of the dictator Franco.

What I hate most in my work are the moments (increasingly rare, fortunately) when I realise, at the end of the execution of a painting, or even worse, long after it has been completed, that there is a mistake, an imbalance in the composition or the drawing. It is then too late…
When and where was I the happiest, in my work?
When I make a painting and I succeed, there is a moment in the process where a “switch” occurs. The painting suddenly acquires a new strength: I have found the way. This is the moment when I am happiest.
If I could, what would I change about myself?
Like many painters, I am a loner. It is necessary to dream and to concentrate. On the other hand, to communicate on my work, to promote it and to value it is for me difficult. I would like to improve my prospecting skills, to build new contacts.

It is difficult to say because each work is a new adventure, and I try to accumulate the knowledge and improve the expression and the working methods with each new painting.

The author who influenced me the most was Joseph Conrad. His books take us on long journeys, both real and inner, and lead us to feel more strongly our relationship with the world.

I don’t think I’ll be listening to any music at that time, except for the silence, or the rumor of the world.

I don’t like heroes or the idea of heroism. It sheds too much light on the complexity of man.

I recommend the film “Amarcord” by Frederico Fellini, which expresses with great poetry the burlesque and funny magic that we can discover when we explore our memory, and in particular our childhood memories.
What role plays art in my life and work?
As a painter, art has always been one of the essential engines of my life of course. It allows me to communicate with others without using language, but through shared emotions and sensations.

“Know thyself” said the ancient Greeks. Being the story teller of one’s own life sheds some light on one’s vision of oneself.
